The Nursing Informatics Committee provides an emphasis on integrating information technology solutions with improved work processes to advance nursing care. The link with an existing local HIMSS chapter provides an opportunity for a closer working relationship with other leading health information technology (HIT) professionals, software developers, vendors and consultants on a local and national level.
Mission
The primary mission of the CHIMSS Nursing Informatics Committee is to provide critical networking and educational opportunities that enhance the practice of nursing informatics on both a local and national level. Integration and active involvement with other HIT professionals is also maximized.
Objectives/Benefits:
- Provide an opportunity for sharing information, view points and experiences with other nursing and clinical professionals
- Provide structured educational opportunities of interest to nursing and clinical informatics professionals
- Provide opportunities for nurse executives, professionals and informaticists to actively participate in HIMSS activities and collaborate with other clinical disciplines and HIT professionals
- To identify areas of special interest and facilitate the educational programs related to these topics
- To support current professional initiatives that includes research and development within the field of nursing informatics
- To effectively communicate with and support the initiatives and efforts of other nursing professional and healthcare related informatics organizations
