Joe Bajek, CPHIMS, President Mr. Bajek has held the above position since 1999. Prior to that, he was the Manager of Data Networks for the U.S. Surgical Corporation (now part of the Tyco Healthcare Group) and a Lead Senior Network Engineer with G.E. Capital. Mr. Bajek holds a B.S. in Computer Science/Mathematics from the State University of New York Maritime College. He is a graduate of the G.E. Information Systems Management Program, a licensed Third Officer in the United States Merchant Marines and an honorably discharged Lieutenant from the United States Naval Reserve. He currently serves on the Board for the Colorado chapter of the Health Information Management Systems Society and is the Healthcare Sector Chief in the Denver chapter of InfraGard.

Tamara Havenhill-Jacobs - President Elect Tamara Havenhill-Jacobs is the Director of Patient Care Systems for Exempla Healthcare. Exempla Healthcare is a not-for-profit integrated care delivery system comprised of three medical campuses (1133 beds). Tamara is responsible for Clinical Development and Support of Exempla’s many applications, including the Clinical Information Systems in production and Clinical Ancillary Applications. She has a focus on new and emerging areas within healthcare IT and maintains involvement in regional and national initiatives with a focus on improving care for all patients.
Tamara has over 15 years of healthcare experience which includes ambulatory nursing, extensive imaging background and over 10 years of focused healthcare informatics work.
Previous positions held include management and project management within Exempla Healthcare, Consultant for IDX Systems, Business Strategy/Informatics and Site Management for Austin Radiological Association and floating nurse for ambulatory offices.

Jeff Pelot, Past President Jeff Pelot is the Chief Technology Officer for Denver Health Hospital and Medical Center, Denver’s community hospital. Denver Health has been recognized as a leader in healthcare technology implementations, most recently in the October 2006 edition of Newsweek Denver Health was reviewed as one of the top hospitals in America for the use of technology.
Jeff provides the leadership, vision, and direction for the use of technology at Denver Health to ensure support of the company's business objectives.
He has over 25 years of managerial experience including extensive program management experience in the areas of technology and systems deployment, implementation of business processes and process improvement for technical infrastructure systems.
Jeff possesses a Masters degree from the Regis University in Computing Systems Management.
Notably his Denver Health Technical team is the recipient of the Health and Hospitals Network Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals for most improved hospitals in 2003, and 2005.

Tim MacArthur, Treasurer Tim MacArthur has over twenty-five years of management and consulting experience in the financial services industry, having started in commercial banking with Colorado National Bank in 1980. Mr. MacArthur joined Barnett Banks in 1987.
During his banking career, he managed all aspects of payment systems including treasury management operations, check processing, self service delivery, collections, bookkeeping and statement rendering. Upon the acquisition of Barnett Banks in 1998, Mr. MacArthur left commercial banking and became President of InTuition Solutions, Inc. ("ITS"), an early-stage company providing record keeping and management services for state sponsored prepaid college tuition programs. During his tenure at InTuition, Mr. MacArthur tripled the number of customers and doubled the company's revenues. In 1999, Mr. MacArthur founded MCS International, a payment systems consulting practice, specializing in strategic planning, consolidation trouble shooting, payment systems development and staff augmentation. Mr. MacArthur's consulting practice included the top wall street firms and several of the top 10 commercial banks. In 2005, he started FlexiCash, a prepaid card company, providing payroll card services to businesses and to the general un-banked market.
In 2006, Mr. MacArthur founded Expedited Payment Systems (XPS), a web based universal payments exchange service for the healthcare industry.

Sherri Hess, Programs Chair Sherri Hess is the Manager of Clinical Ancillary Applications at Exempla Healthcare. Exempla Healthcare is a not-for-profit, faith-based, integrated delivery network comprised of three medical campuses (1133 beds) and seven clinics. Mrs. Hess is responsible for over 100 clinical applications at Exempla. This includes development, implementation and support of the clinical line of products.
Prior to joining Exempla, Sherri spent seven years at McKesson Provider Technologies. Most recently, she led a team in requirements and design of multiple clinical applications in the Horizon Clinicals Suite of products. The product list includes Physician Order Entry, Physician Portal, Horizon Emergency Care, Horizon Mobile Care Rounding, Horizon Expert Plan, and Horizon Perinatal Care. The team consisted of clinicians, business analysts, and GUI designers. Other positions held at McKesson include Project Manager, Functional/Business Analyst, and Interface Support Analyst.
Mrs. Hess’s nursing career spans over 20 years and includes Med/Surg, Oncology, Telemetry, and the NICU. She currently continues working at the bedside a couple shifts a month in the Special Care Nursery at Platte Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Hess holds a Masters of Information Systems from University of Colorado – Denver and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Regis University.

Michelle Tschudy - Program Chair - Elect Michelle Tschudy has a background in high technology and healthcare. Michelle’s experience includes successful rollout of products, services and processes. Most recently at Sun Microsystems she was responsible for gathering requirements from fortune 500 Healthcare customers for a digital archive product. The product was focused in the Healthcare industry and was able to store and retrieve digital images such as Xrays and medical records in a storage system. She has participated in several product launches at international healthcare IT national events such as the Healthcare Information Systems Society (HIMSS) and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conferences. She also has special healthcare related competencies including HIPPA security and privacy training.
Michelle has provided years of non-clinical patient care services at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center. She is a recipient of the Point’s of Light Award which honors individuals and volunteers that make a commitment to connect Americans through service to help meet critical needs in their communities. Michelle and her dog are part of an Animal Assisted Therapy program to visit patients at the hospital. The Animal Assisted Therapy program allows Michelle and her dog to meet with people in need, whether it is in the intensive care unit, imaging, pediatrics or emergency room. Michelle has donated countless hours to visit patients at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, Colorado.
Michelle has a 20 year proven record in business and held positions with direct responsibility in account management, sales, business development, marketing, partnership management and services. Additionally, she has a strong project management background including an MBA and PMP certification.

Sarah Sample Reif - Membership Chair Sarah Sample-Reif brings 15 years of healthcare industry experience in the payer, provider and IT sectors.
Sarah had a distinguished tenure at Cerner Corporation, a leading innovator of health care information technology solutions. Sarah received special recognition for her involvement with Tenet Healthcare and was nominated to “President’s Club” as an integral team member involved in the closing of the largest laboratory opportunity in Cerner history. She managed various clients running single area to enterprise-wide solutions in various stages of implementations. Sarah was awarded “Best in Class in Client Management” for her efforts.
After leaving Cerner, Sarah joined Reglera, a regulatory and quality consulting firm for medical device companies, where she became experienced with Six Sigma and FDA regulatory requirements.
Sarah’s most recent business accomplishment is the launch of a Healthcare Vertical for Kforce Colorado. Sarah is among the top 10% of producer’s of the firm’s 2,300 core employees. Sarah’s passion for healthcare, technology, and people creates a natural to working simultaneously with consultants and clients.

Gerry Furlong, Communications Chair Gerry Furlong joined the Memorial Health System Information Services
Department in January, 2005. She has been with Memorial for over 16 years and has spent the past 3 years focusing on design, build, and support of the Cerner Electronic
Medical Record implementation. Over the past year she has been the Patient Care Systems Support Manager residing over the team that continues to customize and support the EMR for the health system.
Gerry has been an active member HIMSS – Colorado Chapter since shifting her career focus from nursing to healthcare information systems. Gerry has been a registered nurse for over 26 years; 20 years as a bedside caregiver, 4 years in healthcare quality management and 3 years in Information Services. She has held the CPHQ certification in healthcare quality and in 2005 earned a Master's degree in Nursing Informatics from the University of Colorado – Denver Health Sciences.

Carolyn Weinig, Advocacy Chair Carolyn Weinig joined the Innovative Consulting Group Business Development team in January, 2007 as a Director, covering opportunities in the Western US for ICG. She has spent the past 4 years focusing on the healthcare industry, including her last position as VP of Client Services for CONNECT. She has been an active member of HIMSS and CHIMSS during those years.
Carolyn has over 25 years of business development experience, having worked for IBM for 17 years and smaller software and consulting firms between her IBM years and ICG. Carolyn works out of her home office in a Denver suburb. She is the mother of two grown sons, including son Mark who also works for ICG’s Business Development team in Wisconsin.

Barbara Drury, Education Chair Barbara Drury has been the President of Pricare, Inc., a Colorado corporation since 1982. Pricare determines the scope of referral-based consulting services to physicians, malpractice carriers, TPAs, hospitals, and other health care related entities regarding the use of computers in healthcare.
Barbara coordinates related service providers, i.e., software vendors, implementation teams, hardware installation, etc., as needed by clients. Additionally, she teaches health care workers about automated workflow, electronic medical records, e-prescribing, risk in design or unintended use of computers and HIPAA. She also develops and prepares analysis and presentations of health care data to researchers and managers of health care entities.

David Franzblau, Academic Liaison David Franzblau is an active HIMSS and CHIMSS member who currently serves the chapter as a member of the Program Committee. During his tenure as a HIMSS member, David has volunteered as an Annual Conference presentation evaluator, speaker coach, and session moderator for three conferences. He also serves on the national HIMSS Task Force for Emergency Responder Health IT, an effort to expand the integration of pre-hospital and hospital electronic health data exchange. David has served as a consultant and manager for Colorado healthcare providers including Centura Health, Exempla, and The Children’s Hospital. He is currently employed as a Senior Consultant by Beacon Partners, a healthcare IT consulting firm, where he specializes in Epic implementations and system selections.

Donna Dulong, Nursing Informatics Chair Donna Dulong is the Executive Program Director of the TIGER Initiative, a program that is working to integrate enabling technologies transparently into nursing practice and education, making information technology the stethoscope for the 21st. The TIGER Initiative is comprised of over 100 organizations that represent nurses from healthcare provider organizations, nursing schools, nursing specialty associations, government agencies, nursing informatics organizations, and other groups. Donna is responsible for the strategic plan and accountable for the delivery of the program outcomes, including outreach, communication, and follow up with all participating organizations, affiliates, sponsors, and advisors. Donna was one of the original executive members of the TIGER team that established this program in 2004.
Donna has over 18 years of experience in the healthcare information technology field, with over 10 years at the senior executive management level. She has held positions with direct responsibility for business development, new markets, product development, product management, marketing, compliance, quality assurance, implementation and customer service with numerous healthcare information technology companies including Thomson Healthcare, Medvantx, Bridge Medical and Multum Information Services (now Cerner), Pyxis Corporation (now Cardinal Healthcare) and HBOC (now McKesson).
Donna holds a bachelors degree in nursing from Michigan State University, graduate work at University of San Diego, and has several years of critical care nursing experience.

Todd Panella, Secretary Todd Panella is the IT Manager for Desktop Services and The Network of Care for The Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO. Todd has held this position since 2007, prior to that he was a Senior Network Engineer with the hospital who helped to architect, engineer and deliver a world class converged voice and data network for the new hospital location on the Anshutz Medical Campus.
Prior to coming to The Children’s Hospital, Todd was a Senior Network Engineer at Gambro Healthcare/DaVita for 5 years. He helped to architect and lead technical initiatives in the healthcare space, which had a significant impact on patient care.
Todd is a leader and visionary with focus on IT infrastructure, customer service and technological advancement of organizations with a focus in the healthcare industry. Todd is a 15-year veteran of the Information Technology field and the past 8 years has specialized in healthcare.
Todd holds a B.S. in Business Administration in Finance & International Business from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio and a M.S. in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix.

Carrie Book - RHIO Liaison Carrie Book is the Chief Technology Officer for CORHIO, the state designated organization for enabling interoperable healthcare systems for Colorado. Over the last ten years, she has coordinated technology solutions in positions with increasing responsibility for project management, vendor selection, contract negotiation and strategic planning. Most recently, she led the technical implementation of CORHIO’s Point of Care services, implementing a federated architecture with standard healthcare messaging among four large organizations, each with a different enterprise electronic medical record system. Her experience includes managing multiple technology projects with the University of Colorado’s Cancer Center, as well as several years with Qwest Communications working with telecommunications systems.
She participates in the Colorado TeleHealth Network (CTN) IT Council. Carrie is a certified Project Management Professional and has a B.B.A. in Business Management with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from Mesa State College.
Along with her career, Carrie is a proud mother of two and is a certified divemaster in scuba diving.

John is Chief Information Officer for Evolvent Technologies, Inc. Evolvent provides innovative technology solutions in enterprise information management, knowledge management, information assurance/cyber security, and related services.
John is a retired Air Force officer with over 20 years of honorable military service. He served as Chief Information Officer of the USAF Academy Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Senior Fellow and Vice President of IT Operations at the Harris County Hospital District in Houston, Texas, and has held CIO positions for other military medical organizations including DoD’s former Health Services Region 5. John also worked in mental health practices in both private and military settings.
John currently serves on the HIMSS Board of Directors and has served on the Board of Directors for two HIMSS state chapters, Ohio and Colorado. He is a recipient of the Modern Healthcare/Witt-Kieffer Up & Comer Award (2001), ACHE Regent’s Award (2003), AF Surgeon General Information Systems Team of the Year award (2005), and numerous military awards and medals. He holds an A.A.S. degree in Allied Health Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force, a B.S. degree in Computer Science from West Texas State University, and a M.S.A. degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University.
